An Elizabeth II red leather despatch box 'Home Secretary' by Barrow Hepburn & Gale Ltd, the lid embossed in gilt letters 'HOME SECRETARY', beneath an ERII royal cipher, with black leather lined interior, with brass handle. 45 x 30 x 10 cm.
The box belonged to Gwilym Lloyd George, 1st Viscount Tenby who served as Home Secretary from 1954 to 1957.
Provenance: Estate of the late William Lloyd George, 3rd Viscount Tenby (1927-2023), he was the son of Gwilym Lloyd George, 1st Viscount Tenby (1894-1967) and the grandson of David Lloyd George, 1st Earl of Dwyfor (1863-1945) the British Prime Minister from 1916 to 1922 during WWI.
