A George VI red leather ministerial despatch box the lid embossed in gilt letters 'MINISTER OF FUEL & POWER', beneath an GRVI royal cipher, with brass handle, with black leather lined interior, with an applied hand written label: 'State Ceremonies, Budget Paper, Patent Keys'. Gilt stamped maker mark by John Peck & Son. 40 x 29 x 10 cm.

Note: The box belonged to Gwilym Lloyd George, 1st Viscount Tenby who served as Home Secretary from 1954 to 1957.

Provenance: Estate of the late William Lloyd George, 3rd Viscount Tenby (1927-2023), he was the son of Gwilym Lloyd George, 1st Viscount Tenby (1894-1967) and the grandson of David Lloyd George, 1st Earl of Dwyfor (1863-1945) the British Prime Minister from 1916 to 1922 during WWI.
